To obtain a Burn Permit for the Town of Oliver Springs you will need to contact the Oliver Springs Police Department in person or via telephone.  

Conditions/Obligations to obtain Burn Permit

  1.  All Burning shall be 50 feet or more from any structure or in an appropriate and 
        suitable waste burner at least 15 feet from any structure.  

    2.  An adult shall be in attendance at all times with a garden hose connected to a
        reliable water source, or some other appropriate and suitable fire extinguishing
        equipment shall be present.

    3.  Burn Permits will be issued to the property owner only and the property owner will
        assume all responsibility, regardless of who is conducting the burning. 

    4.  All fires will be extinguished before sunset unless otherwise permitted by the 
         City Manager in writing.

    5.  If dense smoke or smoke with a noxious or unpleasant odor is produced, the fire shall be
         extinguished immediately.  

    6.  Only natural burning material shall be burned.  (See listing below)

    7.  Prior to issuing the permit, the Town of Oliver Springs reserves the right to inspect the
         material to be burned, and to deny the permit for any reason.  Further, the Town reserves 
         the right to order the fire extinguished at any time, for any reason. 

    8.  If a fire gets out of control, and must be put out by the Fire Department, the property owner
         will be billed for the cost of all equipment and manpower used to extinguish it. 

    9.  The Town of Oliver springs assumes no responsibility or liability for any injury or damages
         caused by burning. 

   10.  All burn permits are valid for 72 hours from the time issued and a copy of said permit 
         must be on site at all times. 

   The issuing of Burn Permits may be stopped at any time due to weather conditions.

        • Tires and other rubber products
        • Vinyl siding and vinyl shingles
        • Plastics and other synthetic materials
        • Paper products, cardboard and newspaper
        • Asphalt shingles, and other asphalt roofing materials and demolition debris
        • Paint, household and agricultural chemicals
        • Aerosol cans and food cans
        • Building material and construction debris
        • Buildings and mobile homes
        • Copper wire and electrical wires
        • Household trash
        • Leaves, branches and trees not grown on site

        Burning items listed above can be considered  EPA violations and carry heavy financial penalties
